Why are your products more expensive than regular brands?

Because we do not cut corners. We use high-grade ingredients, small-batch processes, traditional methods, and never compromise quality for margin.

Are your products really from Konkan?

Yes — most come from Sindhudurg’s self-help groups and farmer clusters, and we also source across the Konkan belt from Dahanu to Karnataka.

Vada Kolam and Indrayani rice don’t grow in Konkan — why do you sell them?

To support daily household needs. While promoting Konkan foods, we also provide grains that are essential in urban kitchens

What process should be followed before using stoneware for the first time?

Before the first use, wash the stone once and grind soaked rice in it. This removes any microscopic stone particles left from carving and instantly smoothens the surface for lifelong safe use.

Will the mortar & pestle or Pata break while grinding masalas?

No. Our stoneware is crafted from Kala Pashan – a naturally tough, dense stone found in Konkan, capable of handling years of heavy grinding.

After seasoning the stoneware, will raw stone particles enter the masala?

No. Once the first rice grinding is done, the surface settles and becomes smoother over time. No stone particles enter food.

Will the wooden handle get damaged if it gets wet?

No. The handles are made from Shivan wood, which is naturally durable and moisture-resistant.

Will Koyta / Vili rust?

No. They are made from Polad iron. A light layer of oil after washing is recommended to maintain shine and smooth action.

Are the colours safe if children put toys in their mouth?

Our toys are painted with natural lacquer colours and are completely child-safe.

In which oil are your snacks made?

All snacks are made in refined vegetable oil. Some premium items like laddoos are made using pure desi cow ghee.

Will cast iron break if dropped?

Yes. Pure cast iron contains iron + sand — it is strong but brittle if dropped from height.

Are the colours safe if children put toys in their mouth?

Our toys are painted with natural lacquer colours and are completely child-safe.

In which oil are your snacks made?

What ghee is used in Ragi Ladoo / Chana Ladoo / Gul Kaju Ladoo?

We use premium pure desi cow ghee and jaggery only. No refined sugar in these products.

Do you have preservative-free options in syrups and juices?

Some products are preservative-free. But items like mango & kokum oxidise very fast and require preservatives to stay stable after opening.

Where is the honey sourced from?

Wild-forest regions of Amboli Ghat — rich in floral biodiversity.

Is sugar added to honey?

No. Kokan Bazar honey is 100% pure.

Do your flours contain soda or preservatives?

No. All flours are 100% natural.

Which flours are healthier options?

Ragi, Kulith and 7-grain blends are preferred for digestion and diabetic diets.

Why are some grains polished while others are unpolished?

Because different regional cooking styles demand different forms. We make both available as per household preference.

Which preservatives are used in your syrups?

Class-2 FSSAI permitted preservatives required to maintain colour & stability of highly oxidising fruits like mango and kokum.

Why are Vengurla cashews considered special?

They come from the GI-tagged Vengurla belt and are globally known for their rich flavour and signature crunchy snap.

Will food turn black in cast iron?

Only if it burns. If used on medium flame with proper seasoning, it will not darken food.

Are snacks made here or sourced from villages?

Both. Most snacks come from home kitchens in Sindhudurg & Konkan. Some are made locally in Mumbai by chefs from Sindhudurg.

Does Jamun Bites contain sugar?

No. Jamun Bites are made from 100% jamun pulp. Almost 8 kg raw jamun reduces to 1 kg of Jamun Bites.

Do products like Mango Cashew Roll / Aam Papad / Jackfruit Papad contain sugar?

Yes. Pure fruit pulp needs to reach 21 BRIX for natural preservation — sugar is the natural preservative used here.

What ghee is used in Ragi Ladoo / Chana Ladoo / Gul Kaju Ladoo?

We use premium pure desi cow ghee and jaggery only. No refined sugar in these products.

What grade of cashews do you use?

WS-240 — known for size consistency, strong flavour and best texture for sweets.

Which preservatives are used in your syrups?

Class-2 FSSAI permitted preservatives — required to maintain colour & stability of highly oxidising fruits like mango and kokum.

How does mango pulp stay fresh throughout the year?

During the mango season, pulp is canned and stored in food-grade tanks. Each batch is made fresh from storage, ensuring year-round availability.

Does Jambhul (Jamun) Juice contain sugar?

No. It is 100% sugar-free

Why do some syrups taste sweet?

Because sharbat must be diluted 1:6 — the sweetness reduces once mixed with water.

Honey has crystallized — is it spoiled?

Crystallization is a sign of purity. Place the jar in warm water to liquify again.

Because they are premium grade and cleaned — the wastage is already removed. Net weight = pure edible cashew.

Is your cast iron pre-seasoned?

Yes. It is pre-seasoned in industrial ovens so you can start cooking immediately.

If food sticks, does it need seasoning again?

If food sticks, season again with oil and onions on low flame for 15 minutes to rebuild the natural non-stick layer.

Will cast iron break if dropped?

Yes. Pure cast iron contains iron + sand — it is strong but brittle if dropped from height.

Can we cook sour foods like tamarind or lemon?

Yes. Traditionally, sour dishes have always been cooked in cast iron.

Which oils are cold-pressed?

All oils at Kokan Bazar are cold-pressed. Coconut oil is available in both wood-pressed and cold-pressed variants.

Which oil is best for frying?

Groundnut and safflower oil.

Which is best for daily cooking?

Sunflower + Groundnut oil combination.

Which oil is best for digestion?

Sesame and mustard oil.
